Ateak Ireki Program for Youth
NABO is excited to collaborate with Batzen in the Basque Country to present the Ateak Ireki Program, The Ateak Ireki Program that will debut summer of 2020, is for youth ages 16-25 to experience life and culture in the Basque Country today. The three-week immersion program will take place June 29-July 19, 2020, with participants welcomed by host families in the Goierri Valley of Gipuzkoa, as well as study at the renowned Maizpide Barnetegi in Lazkao. The full program schedule, including registration dates, and program itinerary is available here. Registration opens on February 1st with only 50 spots available for this pilot program. Kern County Basque Club Mus Tournament
The Kern County Basque Club will host its annual Mus Tournament this Saturday, January 25th at the clubhouse (2301 S. Union Ave) beginning at 8am. Cost of the tournament is $40 that includes lunch and snacks, and you must be a club member to play. Club dues are $100 for singles and $175 for Couples. If you would like to participate, please contact J.B. Bidegaray to register. Tournament play will begin promptly at 8:30am. For more information, please visit their website.
Film of the Month: 80 Egunean
The NABO Filmategi Film of the Month is 80 Egunean (In 80 Days) by Jon Garano and Jose Mari Goenaga. This film tells the story of Axun and Maite, two women in their 70s who reconnect after not seeing each other for many years.
