Makil Txikiena (small stick) is part of a set of dances called Brokel Dantzak, each performed with some kind of implement. These dances onced served to teach coordination and teamwork. The first zortziko is performed by the buruzagi (leader). The second zortziko is performed by the rest of the dancers as they change formations and return to their starting position. After that, the play begins with the given implements.
