Kaixarranka
This unique dance from the coastal town of Lekeitio in Bizkaia is spectacular, because the dancer dances atop a box held upon shoulders. It is performed there on the feast-day of St. Peter, the patron saint of fishermen. The box contains documents of the fishermen's guild. In remote times, the dancer was dressed as Saint Peter, but now only carries a banner bearing an image of keys, the symbol of Saint Peter.
