New England Basque Club Picnic

New England Basque ClubMembers of the New England Basque club gathered on September 6th to celebrate its annual picnic in Middleton, RI. Members attended from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut and enjoyed a delicious paella prepared in the Knights of Columbus's kitchen. Rural sports were again the highlight of the day and included aizkolariak (wood chopping), harrijasoketa (weight lifting) and txingaeruten (heavy weight carrying) contests. There were also traditional Basque songs, mus and a raffle. For more information visit their Facebook page, as well as to see more photos of the event.
