Basque Studies at Boise State

As a result of the great interest shown in the previous survey, Boise State University's Basque Studies in collaboration with the Boise State University's Women's Soccer and Idaho Youth Soccer are hosting a International Pro Soccer Camp featuring women from Athletic Bilbao W.

BSU Soccer CampMonday, July 21st to Thursday, July 24th, 2014
Boys & Girls- All Skill Levels

Ages 5-7:
90 minute sessions: 9:00am to 10:30am, $100

Ages 8-16:
Full Day Option: 9:00am to 3:00pm, $225
Half Day option: 9:00am to 12:00pm, $150

Participants are responsible for providing their own lunch/snacks and lodging.

All funds raised will directly benefit Basque Studies and their efforts to host an international men's friendly match featuring Athletic Bilbao in Boise in July 2015.

The Directorate of the Basque Community Abroad

Eusko JaurlaritzaThe Basque Government's Secretary General of Foreign Affairs has announced four scholarships aimed at encouraging specialization and training in the field of Basque communities and centers abroad. These scholarships, part of the Directorate of the Basque Community Abroad, provide 12-month internships. Two of the scholarships will fund individuals in Vitoria-Gasteiz, while the other two will reside at Basque Delegations in Argentina the US respectively. The first two scholarships are in the amount of 16,000 Euros and the other two are for 24,000 Euros each. Deadline to apply is June 29, 2014. Condolences to the Rose Family

Joshua RoseWe also received the heartbreaking news of the passing of Joshua Rose, 18 of Winnemucca, NV. Josh was well-known, especially among our kids, in the Basque community due to his and his sister's participation in various Udalekus. Notes of condolences and memories have been shared from all over, including from the Basque Country from instructors who had the pleasure of getting to know Josh. Services will be held this Saturday, June 14th at 11:30am at the Winnemucca Convention Center (57 West Winnemucca Blvd 89445). Viewing will be held at Alberston Funeral Home (47 West First Street, 89445) from 6-8pm on Friday, June 13th. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends. Beti gure bihotzetan.
