Seattle Basque Club Mus and Annual Dinner
The Seattle Euskal Etxea will host its spring dinner and Mus tournament at the Swauk-Teanaway Grange in Cle Elum, WA on April 26th. Tournament registration will begin at 11am with play beginning at noon, with dinner at 5pm. This event is also the annual membership dinner with board elections. If you are interested in serving on the board it's not too late to throw your hat into the ring. Aberri Eguna in Louisiana
Basques in Louisiana will be celebrating Aberri Eguna – Day of the Basque Homeland on Easter Sunday at the Galvez Restaurant, located at the site of old "Bela Luna" (914 N Peters St., New Orleans Louisiana 70116). The event will include documentaries, a talk on the Basque presence in the area, and will feature Basque food, wine and dancing! Cost of the event is $55 for members and $65 for non-members. We have also been notified that Iñaki Castañeda and Alfredo Olabegoia, from the Basque Country, will begin cross-country trek from Los Angeles to New York on Route 66 on April 11th. Iñaki is a double amputee and will be traveling approximately 60 miles a day (100km) on a hand cycle, weather permitting. They will be writing a blog about their adventures and you can also track their progress on Facebook. They would love to meet Basques along the way, so get out there and show them your support!
