Center for Basque Studies Conference
On March 26-27th the Center for Basque Studies, at the University of Nevada, Reno will be hosting its 13th Annual Conference. This year's conference is entitled; "Fiscal Systems and the Crisis" which will gather experts from around the world to compare and contrast the "resilience of public finances and self-government in the Basque Country, Catalonia and Nevada." The conference is being co-organized by Dr. Joseba Agirreazkuenaga, the Center's 2013-2014 William Douglass Distinguished Visiting Scholar. A full professor of history at the University of the Basque Country, Agirreazkuenaga's research interests include: Public finances and taxation, Representative Assemblies and Parliamentary History, politics communication and social history, to name a few. New York Euzko Etxea Events
The New York Euzko Etxea let us know about two upcoming events: the second edition of its Basque Market, and the first ever Basque Club Flea Market. There will be a dinner on March 29th to present the Fish Market with the Flea Market taking place on April 5th. The latter will feature 12 exhibitors showing their products. Both events are being organized thanks to the collaboration of the Basque club with the Mediterranean Seafood Company and Izaskun Zabala Jewelry. Dinner on the 29th will be prepared with produce that will be available for purchase at the Basque Market. Cost of the dinner is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Berri Txarrak Tour
Berri Txarrak will be touring the US during the month of April. This tour will feature their 2011 album, "Haria" that was recorded with well-known producer Ross Robinson in California.
