University of Liverpool Seeks Lecturer in Basque Studies
The University of Liverpool has advertised a job opening for a Lecturer in Basque Studies in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, department of Histories, Languages and Cultures. The position's pay range is: £31,644 - £36,661 (British pounds). A qualified applicant would have a Ph.D. in a related subject, as well as EGA (Basque language certificate) or its equivalent, along with a record of publications. Experience in teaching Basque language and culture at an undergraduate level is essential, with postgraduate teaching experience being preferred. Basque Handball App Available for Free Download
Bainet presented its Fronton videogame on February 20th in Bilbao. The game, the first official esku-pilota (handball) game for smartphones and tablets, is aimed at all of the game's fans as it is played in over 30 countries around the world. The main goal of this game is to promote pilota at the international level via this entertaining format. CBS Book of the Month
The Center for Basque Studies' March title of the month is: Linguae Vasconum Primitiae: The First Fruits of the Basque Language, 1545. This is a translation of the first book printed in Basque by Bernard Etxepare. It contains a collection of poems of various genres that have been treasured by the Basques for their celebration of the Basque language.
