Reno Basque Activities This Weekend

This weekend July 19 and 20th, Reno's Zazpiak Bat Basque club will be celebrating its 46th annual picnic at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno. Come beat the heat next to the Truckee River and enjoy great food, dances, sports exhibitions, bertsolaris, kids' games, a txinga contest along with great music provided by Amuma Says No. Amuma will also be playing at John Ascuaga's Nugget on Friday the 19th from 9-11pm in the Orozko Lounge. Boise's San Inazio Festivities

Next weekend, Boise's Euzkaldunak will be hosting its annual San Inazio Festival as well as the NABO Pilota Finals on July 26 and 27 in conjunction with the festivities. Here is a rundown of San Inazio events. Oso ondo pasa!

NABO-ko Pilota Txapelketa

We would also like to share a word from NABO's Pilota Chair – Evelyne Etcharren:
Thank you Boise Euzkaldunak for hosting the 2013 NABO-ko Pillota Txapelketa. All players are asked to arrive a half hour early to their game. Each game will start immediately following the prior game – not on the hour as listed on the schedule.

The court in Boise is 111 feet in length, and 27 feet 10 inches wide. The falta line is 39 feet 5 inches and the pasa line is 63 feet 7 inches. All Paleta Goma and Baleen games will be played to 35 points and all Eskuz games will be played to 22 points. Women's Paleta Goma, Baleen and Eskuz serves must be served before the Falta line, must pass the Falta line, but cannot go past the Pasa line. All other Paleta Goma games must be served before the Pasa line, must pass the Falta line, but cannot go past the Pasa line. Men's Paleta Goma Class A will be played with a yellow square ball, Class B with a yellow dot ball and women's Paleta Goma with a yellow dot ball. Please bring your own balls. Boise players will be wearing red shirts, opponents are asked to wear blue or white. The award medals will be distributed to the winners immediately following each game.

Dinner on Saturday will be provided by Boise Euzkaldunak for each participant and a guest at the Basque Center, following mass. Please RSVP to Edu Sarria at edusarria@hotmail.com ASAP.
