Bakersfield Basque Bookends

The Bakersfield Basque weekend stretched across parts of four days, beginning with a Basque symposium featuring Basque authors and then concluding with a farewell Basque breakfast.  And in between, there were plenty of more good times.

Thanks to our Kern County Basque Club friends for putting on another great weekend for us!  To read more about the Bakersfield 2010 Basque weekend click on euskalkazeta.com

Bookend A

The Basque weekend started with a symposium featuring Basque authors at California State University, Bakersfield.  It was coordinated by Steve Gamboa, Ph.D. of the Philosophy Department there (who remembered to bring the Basque cheese for snacks!).  This is an ongoing series at CSUB.

Bookend Z

Most folks conclude the Memorial Day Basque festival weekend with a farewell Basque Breakfast at the Woolgrower's Restaurant, featuring variations on pork items including "tripota."

Luhartz
Following the lunch music was played for dancing by the visiting group Luhartza.  They are from Bizkaia, and this was the second time they played at the Bakersfield festivities.
