A Message from Boiseko Ikastola
We were delighted to get a note from our friends at the Boiseko Ikastola this week.:
Ixone, Julene, and I are so happy to be back in Boise, and we have started the school year with lots of new ideas and energy. Our txikis are currently working on a classroom project following the adventures of Fermin, Pintto and Patxi, which connects Euskal Herria, Boise, Euskara, Basque culture, and our community. The project is integrated into our ikasguneak, or learning stations, so the children can continue exploring it through art, language, sensory experiences, construction, play, and other hands-on activities. We are also very lucky to have members of the Boise Basque community participating in our learning. Chris Bieter and Nere Lete are bringing Basque music and puppet shows into the Ikastola, and we would love to continue opening our classroom to people who have something they would like to share with our txikis. Music, stories, traditions, crafts, professions, and experiences from our community can all become meaningful learning opportunities for them. At the same time, we have started working on a longer-term renovation project for the Ikastola. We hope to transform our indoor and outdoor spaces into even more welcoming, creative, and child centered learning environments. For anyone who would like to support Boiseko Ikastola, we have an Amazon Wishlist with materials for our classrooms and learning spaces: https://a.co/0gjnOxSK We also have an Ikastola store with Boiseko Ikastola merchandise: https://ikastola.printful.me/ Most of all, we want to say eskerrik asko to the Basque community for continuing to support our little Ikastola and helping us create a place where the next generation can grow up surrounded by Euskara and Basque culture. And if you are ever in Boise, our doors are open. We would love to welcome you to the Ikastola! Eskerrik asko, Ane |
