Udako Besta in San Francisco
Please join our friends at the Basque Cultural Center this weekend for their annual Udako Besta, August 29-30th. The festivities will begin on Saturday with a Mus “Seiak” 6-way Tournament, with registration beginning at 7:15am. At 1:30pm the BEO will be showing two shorts Musikaz – Ravel + Aita Donostia. Pilota will begin at 3pm followed by an aperitif and a BBQ Steak Dinner. Advanced meal purchases are closed and a limited number of walk-in tickets available for $65/piece, first-come, first-served. Dance off your dinner to music provided by Jean Louis Bergara and Jean Pierre Etchechury. Sunday begins with a Gateau Basque Contest at 9am. Mass will be at 10am followed by dance performances by the Zazpiak Bat Basque Dancers. Sunday’s aperitif is at noon followed by a BBQ Rack of Lamb Lunch. At 4pm Menditarrak will perform a concert of traditional Basque songs, and the weekend will conclude with Moxkor Salda (Garlic Soup) at 7pm. For more information, visit their website.
Basque Museum and Cultural Center Winefest
The Basque Museum and Cultural Center will hold its annual Wine Fest this Saturday, August 29th from 6-9pm on the Basque Block. Tickets cost $75 per person and include a commemorative wine glass, access to nearly 100 wines, pintxos, discounts on wine purchases, access to an online auction, a Basque dance performance, and more.
