BEO Launches Funds, Offers Grants
Here is more exciting news from the Basque Educational Organization. The BEO is excited to announce the launch of our funds, The Women’s Empowerment Fund, and the Creator’s Fund. Both aim to support women and creators in shaping communities, promoting culture, and strengthening the Basque identity. The submission deadline for both grants is May 31st. Lagun Onak Mus Tournament
The Lagun Onak Las Vegas Basque Club will host the Jose Mari Beristain Memorial Mus Tournament, a NABO Qualifying event, this Saturday April 25th at the Tap House Banquet Room. Registration will begin at 9am with play beginning at 9:30am. Cost to participate is $40 plus club dues. For more information, or to register, please click here.
US Participated in MercoMus Held in Santiago, Chile
MercoMus, or the XIII South American Mus Championship was held April 15-18, hosted by the Euzko Etxea of Santiago, in Santiago Chile. Eighteen teams representing five countries participated in the event, with the US participating as a special guest. Two US teams, one from Fresno, Tony Campos, and Jean Pierre Etchechury, and the other from San Francisco, Daniel, and Robert Jaureguy, represented us well, but at the end of the day the team comprised of Jorge Rabuffetti and Jose Luis Macchi, from Argentina came out on top. Second place went to Juan Carlos Lago Zugadi, event organizer, and his partner Juan Mendiburu, representing Chile. Next year’s edition will take place in Uruguay.
