BEO Book and Movie Club
Did you know that the Basque Educational Organization has a Book and Movie Club? BEO's Book Club and Movie Club bring Basque culture to life — no matter where you live. Every six weeks, we meet virtually at 5:30 PM PST to talk about a book or film tied to the Basque world. You can read and/or watch at your own pace, and we hope to see you online for the discussion, but there's no obligation. Even simply choosing a Basque book or film is a meaningful way to support the creators behind these stories. All are welcome to join at any time. Kokein Wraps up Successful Tour
As previously reported the Basque rock band Kokein recently wrapped up its tour of several Basque communities. The tour kicked off with two intimate and personal acoustic performances in Southern California at the Kern County Basque Club in Bakersfield and at the Chino Basque Club in Chino. Kokein then traveled to Idaho to perform at the TreeFort Music Festival, which is a five-day festival with many venues mostly in the downtown Boise area. Their first show was at the outdoor stage next to Boise Brewing where they were part of a four-band bill. They were the third band to play and delivered a foot-stomping powerhouse set that effectively stole the show. They carried that momentum into the following night at the Boise Basque Center, doubling down with their trademark high-voltage energy. The band circled back to California, capping off the tour with a special and intimate, high-energy finale at the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center. To see photos and videos from this tour, please click here. On behalf of everyone at NABO, Mila Esker Handi Bat to Philippe Acheritogaray for all his efforts organizing this tour as well as providing this recap and photos.
