Ansots Named Finalist for James Beard Award

AnsotsOn behalf of everyone at NABO we would like to congratulate Tamara, Dan, and Ellie Ansotegui along with the entire crew at Ansots Basque Chorizos & Catering for becoming a finalist in this year’s James Beard Restaurant and Chef Award Nominees. Ansots, is one of two Boise establishments who made the finals this year, Ansots was nominated for Outstanding Hospitality while Bar Please! was nominated in the Best New Bar category. With over 30 years in the Boise restaurant scene, this is not Dan Ansotegui’s first James Beard nomination, he was also a semifinalist in 2022, 2023, and 2024. This year’s award winners will be announced on June 15th. Zorionak deneri! Sorte on!

 

Aita Antton to Serve New Parish in Bakersfield

Aita AnttonWe learned this week that Aita Antton, who had been serving the St. Patrick’s Parish and Our Lady of Mercy community in Merced, California has now been appointed to San Clemente Mission Parish in Bakersfield, California. His official appointment takes effect on April 17th, but due to the lack of priests in that community, Aita will begin his service during Holy Week. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we wish Aita Antton much happiness in his new parish. Sorte on Aita, eta mila esker zure ahalegin guziengatik!

 

Utah TxotxUtah Txotx & Sagardotegi Dinner

Don’t forget to RSVP by Saturday, April 4th for the Basque Club of Utah’s Txotx & Sagardotegi Dinner on April 18th at the Scion Cider Bar. The menu includes Txistorra, cod omelet, fresh cod with sauteed green peppers and onions, Tomahawk Rib Steaks, cheese, membrillo and walnuts, bread, cider, beer, or wine. Gooding Basque Association First Friday Dinner

Gooding DinnerJoin the Gooding Basque Association this Friday, April 3rd for its First Friday Dinner from 6pm-8pm. This month’s menu includes Lamb Chops, Lamb Ribs, Cod Fish, Basque Rice, Soup, Salad w/Basque dressing, Basque Bread, and dessert. Cost of the meal is $22 for adults and $20 for seniors (+62), and $10 for kids 21 and under. No reservation is required so “arrive hungry and leave happy.”
