Gardnerville discusses Basque Country sister city proposal
Yesterday, December 2nd the Town Board of Gardnerville, along with many members of the Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Basque Club and the Basque community at large attended an event to create a Sister-City relationship between Gardnerville and Ortzaize (Osses) in the Basque Country. The proposal was brought forth by the Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba because of its concerns about sustaining cultural interest and membership for future generations. “The Sister Cities partnership is intended to support these goals by creating opportunities for cultural exchange, including potential museum displays through the Douglas County Historical Society, cultural events and presentations, and pen pal programs in local schools.” On behalf of everyone at NABO, we congratulate everyone who was involved in making this Sister-City Relationship possible, and look forward to seeing the fruits of this collaboration.
