Ateak Ireki 2026 Registration Now Open

Ateak IrekiRegistration for the 2026 Ateak Ireki Program (June 27-July 19, 2026) is now open. Ateak Ireki, which means open doors, is an opportunity for youth between the ages of 16-25 to learn more about their Basque culture, but also allows them to attend weekly Euskera immersion classes at Maizpide Barnetegi. Participants will stay with host families in Goierri, Gipuzkoa and the program includes visits and events all around the Basque Country, as well as time with host families to become more familiar with life in the Basque Country. Thanks to the generosity of program sponsors, participants are only responsible for their round-trip travel and insurance. BCC ThanksgivingThanksgiving Event in San Francisco

Please join our friends at the Basque Cultural Center this Sunday, November 9th for their Esker Onezko Eguna (Thanksgiving) Lunch. Besides a phenomenal meal, the day will also include a Women’s Club raffle, as well as a scholarship drawing where five lucky winners will be awarded $400 towards their college expenses. The Eguberriko Azoka at the Basque Museum and Cultural Center is fast approaching. The event is on December 7th, on the Basque Block and will include food booths, and vendors selling items from jewelry and clothing to ceramics, and so much more. First Friday Dinner in Gooding

Gooding DinnerThe Gooding Basque Association is very happy to announce that the First Friday Dinners are back!  The first will take place this Friday, November 7th from 6pm-8pm. Friday’s menu includes Lamb chops, Lamb Ribs, Solomo, Basque Rice, Soup, Salad, Basque Bread, and an array of mouthwatering desserts. Cost of the meal is $22 for adults, $20 for seniors (62+), and $10 for children 12 and under, and no RSVPs are required. For more information, visit them on Facebook.

 

NABO Fall Meeting and San Martin Celebration in Reno

Fall 2025The Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club, and the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies are excited to host this year’s NABO Fall Meeting, back where it all began, on November 15th, in conjunction with the club’s annual San Martin Dinner/Dance. The NABO meeting will take place at Louis’ Basque Corner beginning with a meet and greet at 7:30am. Full meeting details, including information on hotel rooms can be found here. The San Martin festivities will begin at 6pm at the Nugget. Cocktails will begin at 6pm with dinner served at 7pm, with RSVPs required so please do so today, November 6th, by clicking here.
