Udako Besta in San Francisco
Please join the Basque Cultural Center this weekend for its annual Udako Besta, Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th. The two days are jam packed with activities for everyone to enjoy including Mus, Pilota, Gateau Basque Contest, plus tons of great food, great music, and lots of dancing. Basque Museum and Cultural Center Winefest
The Basque Museum and Cultural Center will host its annual Winefest this weekend On Saturday, August 23rd from 6-9pm. Cost of the event is $75/person that includes a commemorative wine glass, access to nearly 100 wines and their knowledgeable pourers, pintxos from local establishments, deep discounts on wine purchases, online auction launch, Basque dance performance and so much more. Colorado Basque Picnic
Here's a note from our friends at the Colorado Euskal Etxea. Now that the 2025, National Mus champions have been crowned (Tony Huarte and Carmen Salaburu) and picnic season is almost over, we can still continue the parties. The first N.A.B.O. qualifying Mus tournament for 2026, and one of the last picnics of the 2025 season are in Colorado. See the attached flyer for details. Pilota Court Restoration
There is a renewed interest in restoring the Pilota Court in Jordan Valley. The court was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and thanks to NABO Pilota Chair, Tony Huarte, games were hosted there last year. Now there is a new effort to raise money to restore the pilota court sign and benches. This was kicked off with a generous donation by the Malheur Cultural Trust, in the amount of $9,000. The Malheur Cultural Trust Committee was formed “to distribute grant funds from the Oregon Cultural Trust to grantees in the heritage, arts, humanities disciplines and tourism.” To learn more about the effort, or to make a donation, click here.
