Basques of Nevada in World War II Presentation in Reno
On Wednesday, August 6th, Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal, Co-Director of the “Fighting Basques: Memory of World War II,” project will make a presentation at the Sierra View Library entitled, “Basques of Nevada in World War II: A Preliminary Analysis.” The event will begin at 4:30pm and is part of the Nevada Historical Society’s On the Go! program. The presentation is open to the public and admission is free. Come learn more about Nevadan Basques’ contributions to this war effort.
Basque Week & Jaialdi 2025
As you all know this is Basque Week and Jaialdi in Boise, Idaho. This, the first edition since the pandemic, promises a little something for everybody. This year’s event also coincides with the 2025 NABO Convention Meeting on August 1st, which will include visits from Lehendakari Pradales, as well as representatives of the Bizkaian Provincial Government, and the Etxepare Basque Institute. Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Picnic and NABO Euskal Kantari Eguna
The Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba annual picnic, which this year is also the site of NABO’s Kantari Eguna, is just around the corner, on August 9th. Events begin with Mass at 10:30am, followed by a youth flash mus tournament. Lunch at 1:00pm will feature lamb donated by Borda Ranch and includes lamb chops, chicken, beans, lamb stew, salad, dessert, cheese and wine.To buy your lunch tickets in advance, click here. Kaleko Urdangak West Coast and Mexico Tour
The Basque Oi! band Kaleko Urdangak will be touring the U.S. West Coast and Mexico in August, beginning in Seattle on the first of the month.
