This issue is dedicated to centenarians in our community and includes many wonderful, inspiring stories of some incredible individuals. BEO Announces Opportunities
The Basque Educational Organization is excited to announce some great opportunities! The (BEO) is now accepting applications for two new funds: the Women's Empowerment Fund and the Creator's Fund. These funds aim to support women and creators in shaping communities, promoting culture, and strengthening the Basque identity. For more information, please refer to the links provided above. The submission deadline for both funds is May 31st. The BEO is also now accepting applications for its scholarship competition for students attending or currently enrolled in a U.S. affiliated accredited college or university. This year's theme is "The Impact of Music on Basque Culture." The BEO accepts submissions in literary, visual, and performing arts categories, and the deadline for submissions is June 230th, with final submissions due by July 31st.
Winnemucca Murals and Music Festival
If you are in the Winnemucca area this weekend, you are in for a treat! The first annual Winnemucca Murals and Music Festival runs from Thursday, May 29th -Sunday, June 1st and includes the participation of many Basque artists, artisans, and the Winnemucca Irrintzi Dancers.
