Basque Club of Utah at Living Traditions Festival

Living TraditionsAs every year, the Basque Club of Utah will participate in the Living Traditions Festival May 16-18th at Washington Square and Library Square. The festival, which is one of the club’s biggest fundraisers, is produced by the Salt Lake City Arts Council in collaboration with the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, to celebrate traditional music, dance, crafts, and food of Salt Lake City’s cultural communities. The club will be selling food, while the Utah’ko Triskalariak will take to the stage to entertain. Los Banos Basque Club 61st Annual Festival

Los Banos Our friends at the Los Banos Basque Club will celebrate their 61st Annual Basque Festival and Picnic this Sunday, May 18th at the Los Banos Fairgrounds. The festivities will begin with mass at 9:30am at the stage area, which will be followed by performances by the dance groups, and Klika, a Lamb BBQ, Txinga carrying contest, vendors, and dancing. Cost of the lunch is $40 for adults and $20 for children for non-members, and $35 and $15 for members. For more information, visit them on Facebook.

 

New England Basque Club Basque Fest

New England Basque ClubPlease join the New England Basque Club on Saturday, May 31st for their annual Basque Fest at Riki Lasa’s Farm (426 South Grand Street, in Suffield, CT 06093) starting at 1pm. The day will include Basque traditions, food and community for all to watch and/or participate in. There will be Herri Kirolak including Harrijasoketa (Stone Lifting), Aizkolari Challenge (Wood-Chopping), Txingaruten (Weight Carrying), Txokorbatzen (Corn Collecting),  Sokatira (Tug of War) and much much more. The cost of tickets is $30 for adults and $15 for youth under the age of 18, which includes roasted pig, txistorras, dessert and beverages. Please RSVP by emailing nebasque@gmail.com by May 15th.

 

Ontario, Oregon Basque Club Mus Tournament

The end of Mus tournament season is fast approaching, so if you haven’t qualified yet, you can always join the Ontario Basque Club for their annual NABO Qualifying Tournament on Saturday, May 24th at the Ontario Basque Center. You must be a club member to participate, and dues can be paid at the door along with the $45 Mus fee that includes lunch. Please RSVP by May 18th by emailing info@ontariobasqueclub.org, and of course winners of this tournament will represent the club at the upcoming NABO Mus Finals in Los Banos on June 14th. Sorte on deneri!
