Palm Sunday in San Francisco

Erramu EgunaIf you are in the Bay Area this weekend, you should take in the Palm Sunday events at the Basque Cultural Center. The day begins with mass at Notre Dames des Victoires with the Elgarrekin Choir and Klika at 9am. After mass, there will be hot chocolate and croissants and then the action moves to the Basque Cultural Center. At 11am there will be handball games with local players followed by lunch and an Easter Basket Raffle. Unfortunately, the window for lunch RSVPs is closed, but everyone is welcome to join in all the other activities. Later in the afternoon, Julian Zabalbeascoa will kick off his west coast book tour at the BCC at 3:30pm in the Lauburu Room thanks to the Basque Educational Organization. MythologyIntro to Basque Mythology in Salt Lake

Please join the Basque Club of Utah this Friday, April 11th at 5:30pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Holladay for an Introduction to Basque Mythology with Professor Nikki Gorrell. News From Euzko Etxea of New York

New YorkOur friends at the Euzko Etxea of New York recently shared their newsletter that includes information on their upcoming Aberri Eguna festivities, among other things. They also report that Kirmen Uribe’s poem Maiatza was featured in The New Yorker magazine so on behalf of all of us at NABO Zorionak Kirmen!  They also let us know about GUAU, a free audio streaming platform that includes the entire audio universe of EITB and other Basque audio and podcast productions in one place, and finally, there will also be a Pintxo-Pote event on April 27th. Julian Zabalbeascoa Book Tour

Julian ZabalbeascoaAs previously mentioned, Julian Zabalbeascoa, originally of Los Banos, California, and author of What we Tried to Bury Grows Here will launch his west coast book tour this Sunday, April 13th at the Basque Cultural Center.
