Txakolina Night in New York
Please join our friends at the Euzko Etxea of New York this Saturday, March 1st for a Txakolina Night. This is an opportunity to taste the best Txakolis and try classic Basque Country pintxos too. Poker Tournament at Kern County Basque Club
The Kern County Basque Club will host a Poker Tournament this Saturday, March 1st, at the clubhouse, beginning at 5pm with cocktails, followed by play at 6pm. Cost to participate is $100 which includes heavy appetizers and two drink tickets. If you’d like to participate, please email Maria Toretta.
Los Banos Mus, Ladies Night, and More
Los Banos is the place to be this weekend! You can start your day on Saturday March 1st by playing Mus at the Los Banos Basque Club NABO Qualifying tournament, and finish your day with a steak dinner at Ladies’ Night all happening at the Sportsmen’s Club. The day’s festivities will begin at 7am with Mus registration and play beginning at 8:30am. Cost to participate is $20 per player plus $20 for lunch. All participants must be club members and dues may be paid at the door. For any questions, please email Christopher Bengochea. Ladies’ Night will begin at 6pm with a social hour, and dance performance by the local club dancers. Dinner will be served at 7pm and the annual meeting will follow at 8pm. There will also be a raffle. Cost of the dinner is $30 for members, and $35 for non-members and guests. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any club board member. Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Mus Tournament
The Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba will host its NABO Qualifying Mus Tournament on March 15th at the Carson Valley Inn, traditionally the largest club Mus Tournament among all NABO member clubs. If you would like to participate, don’t wait because the deadline to do so is March 13th, and absolutely no late registrations will be allowed on Saturday morning. All participants must be a member of the club and cost to participate is $40 per player. Please contact Teresa Fernandez to register or for more information.
Udaleku Intent to Participate Opens This Saturday
As we told you last week, this year’s Udaleku 2025 will be hosted by the Elko Euzkaldunak June 22-July 4, 2025, and the Intent to Participate will open on Saturday, March 1st at 6pm PST. The theme of this year’s camp is Bizkaia and tuition is $515 per child with a 10% sibling discount. The Intent to Participate is the first step in applying to Udaleku, so once the intent to participate window closes, the club will evaluate how many spots are available depending on how many hosting families they can find. If housing allows, you will then receive a full application to fill out later, along with payment. For any questions, please email udaleku@nabasque.eus.
