International Mus Tournament is a Wrap
As we reported last week, the International Mus Tournament took place last week, October 19-26th in Cusco Peru. The event gathered 14 teams from 12 countries, with last year’s winner, Euskadi with two teams as well as the hosting country Peru also with two teams. After a week of tournament play Argentina came out on top and second place went to Mexico. NABO was well represented by Tony Espinal and Nick Viscay who placed 8th. Next year’s International Tournament will now be held in Macachin Argentina, so Mus Groupies start your planning now! As we know, it’s not just about Mus and as you’ll be able to tell from the photos, they also visited a number of really interesting places, including Machu Picchu. Zorionak deneri!
Euskara Teachers to Meet in Boise
This weekend the NABO Basque teachers will gather in Boise for the annual Irakaslearen Topaketa November 1-3rd. The goal of the Topaketa is to give those teaching Basque in our NABO clubs an opportunity to share experiences and tools, as well as get to know each other. The meeting will take place at the Basque Museum and Kinku Zinkunegi from the Etxepare Basque Institute and Director of Euskara Munduan will also be in attendance. This weekend was also chosen to coincide with the Morzilla dinner. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we would like to express our appreciation to Edurne Arostegui, NABO Euskara Coordinator, for all of her hard work. This year, NABO is enjoying the largest enrollment in our Basque classes in some time. Eskerrik Asko/Mila esker too to all the teachers who are also making this possible.
