Ateak Ireki 2025
Mark your calendars, the application date for the 2025 Ateak Ireki Program that will take place June 28-July 20, 2025, will open on October 25th. This program, aimed at youth between the ages of 16-25 strives to build bridges between US Basque youth and the homeland. Opening the application period earlier in the year, will hopefully facilitate finding affordable airfare for those chosen to participate. Winnemucca Fall Dinner Dance, Mus Workshop and Tournament
Please join our friends at the Euskaldunak Danak Bat Basque Club in Winnemucca for its first ever Mus Workshop and Fall Dinner/Dance on November 2nd at the Winnemucca Events Complex Exhibit Hall. The Mus Workshop, for all ages, will begin at 1pm and is free for club members. Non-members are also welcome to participate for a fee. In the evening, the dinner/dance festivities will begin at 6pm. Cost of dinner is $25 for adults and $10 for children if purchased ahead of time, or $30 and $15 at the door. All proceeds will go to the Frank Maestrejuan family as Frank continues to heal from injuries he suffered at this summer’s Basque club picnic. Stick around on Sunday for their NABO Qualifying Mus Tournament. Please spread the word as this tournament was traditionally in February/March. Registration is at 8am with play beginning at 9am. You must be a club member to participate, and dues ($25) are payable at the door, which also includes lunch. For more information, please visit them on Facebook.
Iparreko Ibarra Annual Besta and Euskal Kantari Eguna
As we reported last week, this weekend marks Iparreko Ibarra’s Annual Besta on Saturday,October 12th, in conjunction with NABO’s Kantari Eguna at McBean Hall in Lincoln, CA. The day will begin with a cash Mus tournament at 8am followed by a Tri-Tip Sandwich lunch, dancing and singing performances, weight carrying and a BBQ Lamb and Chicken Dinner. Don’t forget, all performers will have their meal covered by the club in appreciation for their participation. The evening will also include raffles and a public dance.
