Mendigoizaleak Hike

SFBCCPlease join the BCC Mendigoizaleak this Saturday, October 5th from 8:00am-12:00pm for a hike. This weekend they will be exploring Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Russian Hill, Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Mason, and Crissy Fields. Don’t forget, “the beauty of an urban hike is that you can jump on public transportation or a rideshare at any point.” The goal of these hikes is to build community and have a chance to catch up with new and old friends. BEO Womens' Book Deadline

Basque WomenDon’t forget that the deadline for submissions for the BEO’s 2nd Edition Women's Book is October 18th. The first edition honored over 100 special women from all over the United States with beautiful heartfelt stories. Every woman in our Basque communities should have a page in this book, and the final deadline to submit a page is Friday, October 18th. Please submit a picture, story and/or message about your loved ones now!  A sample of the first book is also being shared to give an idea of what it looks like. Revised Dates for Gaztemundu 2024

GaztemunduPlease note that the dates for Gaztemundu 2024 that will focus on dance, have been changed and will now take place from December 1-15, 2024. This means that the new deadline to apply is now October 14th by 11:59pm Basque Country time. If you have already applied, there is no need to do so again, but for those still wishing to participate, all of the information necessary about the program and how to apply is available here, in English. However, you must apply through the Gaztemundu website, by first clicking on Solicitud y Aportación in order to use your BAK username and password to access the electronic application. If you have any questions, please email Jose Manuel Meaurio (Manu) at the Basque Government’s department for the Basque Community Abroad directly.

 

Iparreko Ibarra Besta and Euskal Kantari Eguna

Iparreko IbarraMark your calendars, the Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club’s annual Besta is next weekend, in conjunction with NABO’s Kantari Eguna, on October 12th. There will be a cash Mus tournament too, along with dancing by the local dancers, a weight carrying competition, as well as lots of singing. If you would like to participate, by singing, or dancing, please email Chris Bengoechea. All performers will get a free dinner thanks to Iparreko Ibarra.
