NABO Athletes Participate in Saint Pierre et Miquelon Picnic
The Saint Pierre et Miquelon Basque Club recently celebrated its annal picnic, August 12-18th. The program included traditional Basque dancing, music, song, pilota and rural sports exhibitions. This year, four pilotaris representing NABO were there along with coach Todor Azurtza. Competing in women’s pala were Maite Kvarna Aramburu from San Francisco and Geneva Ayarra from Boise, and in the men’s were Johnny Boyd, also from Boise, and Jake Jaureguy from Boise via Chino. They quickly learned that playing pala on an open fronton is much different than what they were used to, nevertheless, we’d like to congratulate and thank them all for representing us so well! Eskerrik Asko! To see a short report on the events, including interviews with our pilotaris, in French, click here. Coverage starts at 8:00 minutes.
