Basque Museum Updates

Basque MuseumThe Basque Museum and Cultural Center has announced that the Cyrus Jacobs-Uberuaga House will be undergoing some renovations and will be closed to the public at this time.  However, the BMCC gift store and galleries will remain open, and you can always enjoy a virtual tour in the meantime. In-person tours of the boarding house will resume once the work is completed. For more information visit their website.

Biotzetik Choir Interviewed on Basque County Tour

BihotzetikBoise’s Biotzetik Basque Choir is currently on tour in the Basque Country with concert dates in both Hegoalde and Iparralde. Directed by Patty Gabica, today they performed in Baigorri’s church, along with the Menditarrak choral group. Their concerts include a repertoire of traditional Basque songs as well as some pieces in English. 44th Annual Winnemucca Basque Festival

Winnemucca PosterPlease join our friends at the Euskaldunak Danak Bat Basque Club in Winnemucca, Nevada for the 44th Annual Winnemucca Basque Festival June 7-9, 2024. The festivities begin on Friday with a 3K that starts and ends at the Humboldt Museum. While you are there, check out the Basque exhibit which will be open from 4:00-7:00pm. Saturday begins with a traditional parade at 11am followed by the festival on Nixon Lawn at the Winnemucca Convention Center.  The day will be filled with traditional dance exhibitions, games for all ages, and great food.  There will be a public dance beginning at 6pm and Chorizo Burgers will be available for purchase at 7pm. Sunday’s events will begin at 9am with mass followed by a Basque Breakfast. Please note that outside coolers and food are not permitted. Shade structures should be positioned along the fence line, and chairs with shade must be placed ten feet away from the stage. For complete information, visit them on Facebook.

 

DinnerFirst Friday Dinner in Gooding

This Friday, June 7th marks this month’s First Friday Dinner at the Gooding Basque Association from 6pm-8pm.  The menu includes Lamb chops, Lamb Ribs, Ham, Basque Rice, Soup, Salad, Basque Bread and dessert.
