Basque Cultural Center Recent Events
The Basque Cultural Center was the site for two exciting events in March. First, it hosted the NABO Bertso Saioa, and then a concert by rock band Zea Mays. BEO Mus Tournament
The Basque Educational Organization will host its annual NABO qualifying Mus Tournament this Sunday, April 7th at the Basque Cultural Center. Registration will begin at 7:30am with game play to begin at 8:15am. Cost to participate is $40 and anyone over the age of 16 is eligible to play. The Basque Cultural Center members’ lunch is a separate cost. Mus registration is required by April 5th, and for more information, or to register, click here.
Gandeia Tour
The Basque cultural performance group, Gandeia, is currently touring in the US. The group comprised of Yorrick Troman (violin), Amaia Cordoba (piano), Ion Irazoki (txistu) and dancers Oihana Santxotena and Lorea Lizarreta, performed last Saturday at the Chino Basque Club along with the local Gauden Bat dancers. If you missed them there, you have two more opportunities to enjoy this unique show. The group will be performing in Minden on Friday, April 5th at the Minden Mercantile at 7pm. Gooding Basque Association First Friday Dinner
Please join the Gooding Basque Association this Friday, for its First Friday Dinner at 6pm. Besides a wonderful menu of Lamb chops, Meatballs, Lamb Shanks, Basque Rice, Salad, Soup, Bread and lots of desserts, there will also be a large silent auction to raise money for costumes for the newly created children’s dance group, the Gooding Gazteak. Athletic Watch Party this Saturday
If you are an Athletic Fan you won’t want to miss this! The Peña Athletic Club California is having a watch party this Saturday, April 6th at the Dubliner West Portal bar to watch the final of the Copa del Rey that pits Athletic Club against Mallorca at Sevilla’s Olympic Stadium. Doors open at 11:30am and kick-off is at 1pm. There will be pintxos and Kalimotxos for everybody’s enjoyment.
Reno Zazpiak Bat Mus Tournament and Potluck
The Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club will host its annual Potluck and NABO Qualifying Mus Tournament this Saturday, April 6th at the American Legion Hall. The day’s events will begin with Mus registration at 8am with play beginning at 9am. Cost to play is $30 per player, which includes coffee, pastries, and lunch. You must be a member of Zazpiak Bat in order to play. Dues are $30 for individuals and $50 for families, payable at the door. If you are not a muslari and want to come for the afternoon fun, the doors for the potluck open at 11am with lunch served at 12:30pm. Besides lunch, the afternoon will include a silent auction, cake walk, bingo and games for the kids. Any food contribution is appreciated, but if you are stuck, please see the flier for ideas.
