Basque Tracks Docuseries
As many of you may already be aware, Jacob Shaw, has completed a docuseries called Basque Tracks that focuses on the Kern County Basque community. The first episode debuts today and is available to watch for free here. NABO Winter Meeting
This weekend, the NABO Winter Meeting will take place on Saturday, February 17th in conjunction with the Basque Cultural Center’s 42nd Anniversary festivities. The meeting will take place at the BCC presided by Jean Flesher, with NABO member club delegates attending in person, as well as via Zoom to discuss a variety topics pertaining to the federation. Also included in the agenda are guest reports by Iñaki Arrieta and John Bieter on the collaborative Arborglyph project and Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal will also be on hand to update everyone on the Basque WWII Veteran Memorial project. Friday will mark the fundraising campaign launch for this project too. If you are unable to attend, but would like to contribute to the effort, click here. Unai Telleria, Delegate of the Basque Country in the US will also be in attendance to field any questions related to Basque Government programs. The weekend won’t just be about work of course. Remember the NABO motto, “Celebrate + Educate = Perpetuate.”
Txoko Ona Mus Tournament
The Txoko Ona Basque Club will host its annual NABO Mus Tournament on Sunday, February 18th at the clubhouse. Registration will begin at 8:30am along with breakfast with play beginning at 9:30am. Lunch will be served at 1:00pm with play resuming at 2:00pm. Cost to participate is $70, which includes club membership, NABO Mus dues, breakfast and lunch. Winners of this tournament will represent Txoko Ona at the NABO Mus Finals to be held in Gardnerville on June 15th. For more information, visit their website. Sorte on deneri!
