BEO Announces Scholarship Recipients
The Basque Educational Organization has announced the winners of its 2022 Scholarships, Maialen P. and Delaney L. with Jean Pierre E. receiving an honorable mention. The BEO awards two $2,000 scholarships annually to college students who are enrolled and attending classes during that current academic year. Basque Government 2022 Grant Results
The Basque Government’s Directorate for the Basque Community Abroad recently published the results of its 2022 grant program aimed at Basque clubs and federations around the world. The total budget of 947,420 Euros was awarded in two categories, Chapter IV for operating and activities, and Chapter VII for infrastructure expenses. A total of 72 clubs and federations were awarded funds in Chapter IV totaling 767,420 Euros, and another 37 entities shared 180,000 Euros in Chapter VII. These funds are life-saving for many clubs around the world, and for others, they facilitate and ensure continuing cultural activities in an effort to maintain the Basque culture abroad. Kern County Basque Club Mus Tournament
The Kern County Basque Club will hold its annual Mus Tournament this Saturday, January 21st beginning at 8am at the clubhouse. All participants are asked to please preregister by contacting Kathy Laverty, or emailing Maria Toretta. Tournament play will begin promptly at 8:30am, and membership dues and tournament fees, $40, which includes lunch, are payable at the door. Lorea Laverty will serve as tournament referee. Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Meeting and Lunch
Please join the Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba this Saturday, January 21st for lunch at the JT Basque Restaurant to install new club officers, and thank those going off the board. The event will begin at noon with cocktails, and lunch will be served at 1pm. The meeting will take place after lunch. Zorionak deneri!
