Basque Club of Utah Annual Dinner and Dance
Please join the Basque Club of Utah for this year’s annual Dinner/Dance on January 28th at St Vincent Catholic Church - The Holy Family Hall (1375 Spring Lane Salt Lake City, UT 84117). This year’s event coincides with NABO’s Winter Meeting that will take place earlier in the day bringing together representatives from NABO’s 42 member clubs in person and via Zoom. The Dinner/Dance is the Basque Club of Utah’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Festivities will begin at 6pm with dinner being served at 7pm. Besides a wonderful meal, attendees will be treated to a performance by the local Utah’ko Triskalariak Basque dancers, and later to music by Mercedes Mendive and Nekane Lejardi. Herri Txiki Amerika Handi
As many know, the Basque TV show Herri Txiki Infernu Handi, did a US tour for a special episode entitled, Herri Txiki Amerika Handi. The tour, which began in Boise, Idaho continued on to Elko, Reno and Gardnerville, Nevada, followed by a stop in San Francisco to conclude in Southern California. To date, two episodes have aired, the one in Boise, and the other in Nevada. All episodes are available to watch on ETB1 on Nahieran (on demand), or also on YouTube. To watch the Boise episode, click here, and the Nevada episode is available here. The majority of the program is in Basque and Spanish, but it’s always fun to see familiar faces, and places. Upcoming Mus Tournaments
We have found out about a couple of upcoming Mus tournaments in Winnemucca and Elko. The Winnemucca Euskaldunak Danak Bat Mus Tournament will take place on Sunday February 26th, beginning at 8:30am with registration at the Martin Hotel. Cost to participate is $60, which includes club dues. For more information, visit them on Facebook. We have also been notified that the Elko Mus Tournament is incorrect in the NABO calendar. The correct dates are March 11th for the Sheepherder’s Ball followed by the Mus Tournament on Sunday March 12th. Stay tuned for more details.
Reno Zazpiak Bat Installation Dinner
Please join the Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club on January 21st for its annual Installation Dinner. This annual event in an opportunity to swear in new board members, as well as to thank outgoing members for their hard work and dedication. The dinner will take place at Louis’ Basque Corner beginning at 5:30pm for no-host cocktails, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. The menu will include a choice of shrimp, salmon, steak or roasted leg of lamb, as well as a no entrée option. Cost of the meal is $50 per person, or $35 for the no entrée option.
