International Day of the Basque Language
On Saturday, December 3rd, Basques all over the world will unite in celebrating Euskararen Eguna, Day of the Basque Language. December 3rd was chosen as the date to celebrate the Basque language because it coincides with the feast of Saint Francis Xabier, whose dying words were uttered in Basque on December 3, 1552. Many clubs are organizing events to acknowledge the Basque language on Saturday; however, many Basque teachers and students celebrate this throughout the year. For instance, Susana Siccardi, our friend and collaborator from Argentina, teaches Euskara and regularly brings students together from different countries for Basque conversation practice, as well as to ”Build Bridges.” Zorionak Susana eta segi lan garrantzitsu honetan! Click here to enjoy a video featuring students from the US and Uruguay. Gora Euskara!
