The Basque Educational Organization will hold another installment of its Basque Film Series, this Friday, October 7th at the Basque Cultural Center beginning at 7:30pm. This week’s film is Ilargi Guztiak (All the Moons) directed by Igor Legarreta. The film tells the story of a young girl who is rescued from an orphanage during the last Carlist War. 2022 Kantari Eguna Hosted by Iparreko Ibarra
Our Friends at the Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club are hosting their annual picnic and NABO’s Kantari Eguna this Saturday, October 8th at McBean Hall in Lincoln, CA. The day’s events begin at 8am with Mus Registration. If you would like to play in their tournament, please email Danielle Negueloua ASAP. Mus will be followed by lunch and special recognitions, and Kantari Eguna will begin at 1:30 featuring singers from all over. After Kantari, stay and enjoy dance performances by the local Iparreko Ibarra dancers and dancers from the San Francisco Basque Club. Weight carrying will complete the afternoon events and a BBQ Lamb/Chicken dinner will be served at 6pm, complete with raffle prizes. After dinner, dance to the music of Iñaki Reta. Wine Tasting and Sagardotegi Night at SFBCC
The San Francisco Basque Cultural Center is holding a Wine Tasting and Sagardotegi Night, October 14th. The event begins at 6pm with cocktails including wine and cider tasting followed by dinner at 7pm. Early bird reservations, made by October 8th, are $50 per person that includes a traditional Sagardotegi dinner. Reservations made after the 8th are subject to space availability and will be charged the full rate of $60 per adult. 2022 International Mus Tournament in Idaho
For the first time since the pandemic, an international Mus Tournament will take place! The 43rd World Mus Tournament, hosted this year by the United States, namely NABO, and on its behalf, the Boise Euzkaldunak Basque Club will take place October 8-16, 2022. The tournament welcomes nine teams and their delegates, representing seven countries, totaling some 75 people. During the week, Mus will not be the only thing occupying their time….Thanks to our friends in Idaho’s Basque communities; the group will tour several clubs, among other points of interest in the Treasure Valley. The event will conclude on Saturday October 15th at the Basque Center’s Monthly Dinner. As the hosting country, NABO will have two teams at the tournament: Felipe Cerdan and Juan Jose Viscay, the 2022 NABO Tournament winners, will represent us along with last year’s winners, Augustine Ugalde and Esteban Elexburu. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we wish everyone much luck, and hope that everyone travels safe and enjoys their stay.
