This weekend, the San Inazio Mass in Boise will be livestreamed on the Artzai Ona Facebook page this Saturday, July 20th at 7pm (MST). Mass will also be available to view later on for those that cannot join the livestream, with the Basque community of Boise being especially remembered. Boise Euzkaldunak's San Inazio Festival
The Boise Euzkaldunak invite everyone in the area to join them for their annual San Inazio festivities July 29-31st. The weekend will include activities for all ages including pilota, pala, Basque dance performances by the local Oinkari Basque Dancers, and the Boiseko Gazteak Basque Dancers accompanied this year by two groups from the Basque Country, Udaberri Dantza Taldea, and Korrontzi Basque Musicians. The Txantxangorriak Basque Musicians will provide more music and fun; the traditional San Inazio Mass with the Oñati Dantza Taldea will take place on Saturday, as well as a street dance on the Basque Block, a picnic and so much more. Cenarrusa Foundation Award
During the San Inazio festivities, the Cenarrusa Foundation will present this year’s Cenarrusa Foundation Award to Aita Antton Egiguren and Anita Anacabe. This award, founded in 2020, aims to recognize individuals and institutions who “exemplify Pete Cenarrusa’s numerous contributions to public service.” The presentation will take place on Sunday, July 31st, at 1:30pm at the Kristine Armstrong Park. The Oinkari Basque Dancers invite everyone to an extraordinary performance on Monday August 1st at 6pm (MST) at the Gene Harris Bandshell once again featuring the Udaberi Dantza Taldea, Korrontzi, and the Oinkaris. Txakoli KC by Kerri Lesh Was an All-Around Success
On July 23rd, Dr. Kerri Lesh, (UNR 2019), who is also a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) taught a class at the Culinary Center of Kansas City featuring wine tasting and Pintxo-Style small bites. The experience described as a “stay-cation” that transported and educated participants through the unique flavors of the Basque Country, was a great success that managed to raise $750 to be donated to Stand with Ukarine KC, as well as to Jose Andres’ World Center Kitchen. Participants enjoyed the following pintxos: A Gilda Pintxo, Pimiento Relleno con bonito, P'Tit Basque cheese, Manchego cheese, and Sardinillas and Ventresca (tuna belly), all paired with Hard-to-find "EugeniaTxomin Etxaniz Espumoso,” Txomin Etxaniz White Txakoli, Txakoli Primo Rosado, Artadi "Vinas de Gain," Hiruzta Basque Brut Nature Rose.
