Basque Studies at Boise State is happy to announce the latest issue of BOGA, the Basque Studies Consortium Journal.  Published annually, the journal features articles by individuals with graduate degrees who write on Basque Studies related topics. This year, the editors of the journal decided to move its publication to the spring. Kern County Basque Club Annual Picnic

Kern County Basque ClubThe Kern County Basque Club will host its annual picnic, the 48th edition, this weekend May 28th and 29th.  There will be a festival kick-off on Friday, May 27th at CSUB’s Dore Theater with a free concert by Mikel Urdangarin beginning at 7pm.  On Saturday, the festivities will begin at the clubhouse, at 8am with a Mus Tournament, followed by lunch and another concert by Mikel Urdangarin. Local pilotaris will compete at 4pm with pilotaris from Euskadi following at 4:30pm.  Sunday will begin with Mass celebrated by Aita Antton Egiguren, Fr. Maurice Emelu and Deacon Fred Ansoloabehere with the participation of the KCBC Klika and Choir.  Iñaki Reta will provide musical entertainment during the aperitif, and lunch will be served from noon to 2pm.  After lunch, the club dancers and Klika will perform and the afternoon will include more pilota. The day will conclude with a public dance to the music of Amerikanuak and a cash drawing.  For complete information, including meal prices and information on the pilotaris click here. Marin Sonoma Basque Association Mus Results

Marin Sonoma Mus Winners

The Marin Sonoma Basque Association held its annual Mus Tournament and picnic last weekend on May 22nd At Penngrove Park. Tournament winners were, Jon Etchevers and Jean Michel Michelena, with Jean Pierre Cabalette and Linda Etcheverria taking second. After the tournament, everyone enjoyed a wonderful lunch.  Zorionak deneri!


SFBC Picnic Cancelled, But Exhibitions will be Held on the 4th

CancelledWe were saddened to hear that the San Francisco Basque Club has decided to cancel its annual picnic on June 5th due to COVID concerns. However, the pilota exhibition planned for June 4th will still take place featuring the professional pilotaris competing this weekend in Bakersfield.  There will also be a Basque dance exhibition provided by Gazteak Dance Group performing all of the dances they have been working on so hard this year.  Following the pilota and dance exhibitions, there will be a no-host dinner at the Cultural Center.
