John Baptiste Mainvil (1926-2022)
We were so sad to hear of the passing of John Mainvil in Eagle, Idaho at the age of 95. John was married to our longtime treasurer, and friend, Grace Mainvil (+2017), for 58 years. He often accompanied Grace to NABO meetings and events, and was such a pleasure to be around. They often travelled as a trio, bringing his sister Josephine Harriet along who served as Fresno Basque Club’s delegate for years. Grace and John were an inspiring couple. They worked hard together, but also knew how to enjoy themselves. They traveled extensively, including to visit their daughters in Australia and New Zealand. Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 11th at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boise. There will be a viewing before mass at 10am. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we extend our sincerest condolences to his daughters Janice, Joanne, Louise, and Linda as well as to their families and John’s extended family. I am sure he and Grace are smiling down on them all, and are enjoying a dance. John’s obituary is available here. May he rest in peace, Goian Bego.
