EuskalKultura.eus Discontinues English Edition
We were saddened this week to learn that EuskalKultura.eus will discontinue the English version of its website as of October. This begins a period of reflection for our friend and colleague, Joseba Etxarri, as he decides the future of the EuskalKultura project. For the last 20 years, EuskalKultura has provided news from Basque communities around the world in three languages, Basque, English and Spanish. Initially on paper, it soon made the move to the internet allowing readers from all over the world to learn more about their counterparts across the Basque Diaspora. Not only did Joseba share news that came to him from outside sources, but he also made a concentrated effort to travel and get to know these communities in person whenever possible. Besides sharing Basque club news, notices from Eusko Jaurlaritza, and other Basque institutions, Joseba also took special care to let us know about those in our communities who have passed away, an invaluable service for sure. He also created a venue for others to share their thoughts and opinions in the Blog section. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we would like to thank Joseba for his tireless efforts, and let him know how much it was appreciated. Bihotzez, Mila Esker Joseba!
