This week Aita Antton’s mass will be livestreamed on Sunday beginning at 8:45am (PST) as always from the Artzai Ona Facebook page. The missal can be found here. If you are in the Paradise Valley area however, he will be celebrating mass in person at the Santa Rosa picnic at noon for the intentions of that Basque community, with a special remembrance of their dearly departed.

Day of the Basque Diaspora
Yesterday, September 8th marked the Day of the Basque Diaspora, a day that allows Basques all over the world to share their Basque culture and pride with their neighbors. This date was chosen as it coincides with the first circumnavigation of the globe in 1522, by a crew led by Juan Sebastian Elkano from Getaria, Gipuzkoa. This year, many Basque clubs have organized events to commemorate the day, and at the Basque Government’s invitation, have included #EuskoChallenge in their event to show the world “how we experience the Day of the Basque Diaspora.” The Basque Government held an institutional event that included the inauguration of the “Basques in California” exhibit created by the Basque Museum in Boise, among other presentations, including an address by Lehendakari Urkullu. For more information on this event click here. If your club or entity has organized a Diaspora Day event, please share news about that with us so we can include it in our coverage next week.
