Diasporaren Eguna at the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies

Diasporaren EgunaThe William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies invites you to its Day of the Diaspora event on September 8th in conjunction with the dedication of the Basque Shepherd Statue.  The statue, originally commissioned by the late Rose and John Ascuaga for the Nugget Casino, was donated to the university and relocated to campus last year.  The dedication program will be a tribute not only to the memory of Rose and John Ascuaga, but also to the “many Basques who emigrated to the American West.”  The outdoor program will be followed by a reception.  For complete information on the event, and to RSVP, please click here

2021 Euskal Kantari Eguna and New Playlist

Our NABO Music Programs Director, Mikaela Goicoechea has been hard at it.  Besides compiling the 2021 NABO Kantari Eguna video, in conjunction with the Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba’s 40th Anniversary, she also found time to create a new Spotify playlist called “Triki-mania!” featuring songs with both traditional and contemporary uses of the trikitixa.  To check it out, click here.  If you haven’t had a chance to watch the Kantari Eguna video yet, you can do so by clicking here or watch below..  On behalf of everyone at NABO, our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated, and made the event possible.  And again, Eskerrik Asko Mikaelari, who put it all together!  What a wonderful tribute to Basque song! Zorionak Mendiko Euskaldun Clubari! Here’s to the next 40 years!
