Los Banos Drive Thru Dinner

Los Banos Stew DinnerThe Los Banos Basque Club is now selling tickets to its Drive Thru Dinner to be held on February 11th.  Cost of the tickets is $25 and includes two lamb stew dinners with salad and bread.  Dinners will be available for pick up between the hours of 5:00-7:00pm at the D.E.S. Traditional Axoa Lunch at SFBCC

axoaThe San Francisco Basque Cultural Center will host a traditional Axoa Lunch on January 24th.  The menu includes soup, salmon cake Basquaise, Axoa (veal stew) with rice and vegetables, salad, cheese, and dark chocolate mousse for dessert.  Cost of the meal is $40 or $15 for children 12 and under (soup, chick drumsticks, dessert).  A la Carte items are also available to order online like extra soup, Gateau Basque or wine.  To RSVP email Yvette Mindeguia by January 17th. EuskarAbentura 2021

EuskarAbenturaEuskarAbentura that began in 2018, and provides youth between the ages of 15-17 years of age the opportunity to tour the Basque Country on foot for month, is now inviting participants to apply to this year’s tour. Youth in the Basque Country as well as the Diaspora are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to get to know more about the Basque Country first hand, often accompanied by experts, or well-known figures who explain each place, festival or custom to them.  EuskarAbentura is free, except travel to and from the Basque Country. Requirements to participate include being between the ages of 15-17; be capable of communicating in Basque; and have a desire to tour and get to know Euskal Herria for a month, all while making lots of new friends.  Deadline to apply for the 2021 program is March 12th.  The application process includes the submission of a presentation video, and an individual project.  Topics for this year’s projects include: From the farmhouse to the plate, the impact of the food consumption model on our health and the environment; Klik eta post, on the importance given to image in our society; and Age, source of knowledge, on the importance of valuing the experience that older people bring.
