Basque Museum 2021 Calendar

CalendarIn an attempt to fill the void created by NABO not creating a calendar this year, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center has created one instead.  It does not include event dates since so many events are still on hold due to the pandemic, but it does include great photos and information. They can be shipped too!  For more information, to see a preview, or even to order one, click here.

San Francisco Basque Cultural Center Fundraiser

FundraiserThe San Francisco Basque Cultural Center needs your help.  The SFBCC has played an important role in the maintenance of the Basque culture in the Bay Area for forty years, hosting Basque festivals, pilota matches, NABO meetings, film screenings, Euskera classes, private parties, and family celebrations of every type, weddings, funerals, baptisms, to mention a few.  Now, severely impacted by the pandemic, which forced the closure of its restaurant, its main source of revenue, they have launched a fundraiser to help alleviate some of this economic impact.  If you would like to donate, please click here. They appreciate any help you can provide. Mila esker!

Help Save Historic Taix Restaurant in Los Angeles

TaixAnother campaign has been launched to help “save Basque culture in Los Angeles,” more specifically, an effort to save “one of the last pieces of Basque history in Los Angeles,” the Taix Restaurant. Opened in 1927, in downtown LA’s Frenchtown, and eventually moved to Echo Park in 1964, the restaurant has served as “a community center for the neighborhood, which shares the traditional values of Basque culture.” The hope now is to include it as a Historic Cultural Monument based on its cultural significance in the community.  If you would like to help, please send letters of support to the following: please bcc: and when doing so.  You can also follow them on Facebook. For more information on the restaurant and its history, click here.
