Basque Government Delegation in The United States

DelegatesN.A.B.O. would like to extend its thanks for the support and friendship of the Basque Government’s outgoing delegate to the USA Jorge Fernandez Quintela.  Jorge served in this position since June of 2018, and was able to attend several N.A.B.O. meetings and events where he had the opportunity to get to know many of us in the Basque community.  We wish Jorge much success in his future endeavors, and thank him for his service.  At the same time, we would also like to welcome Unai Telleria Juaregialzo, our new Delegate of the Basque Country in the US.  Until now, Telleria has served as the Basque Government Delegation’s business director at its New York headquarters, where he was also an active member of the Euzko Etxea of New York, serving as its treasurer and Euskara teacher.  We wish you much luck in this new endeavor, and look forward to the time when we can meet you in person.  Sorte on biei!

Basque Government's Dantza Munduan Taking Applications

Aiko Dantza eskolaAt the 7th World Congress of Basque Communities Abroad, it was decided to develop Euskal Dantzak (Basque dance) as a way to attract youth to our Basque clubs, as well as provide an activity “characteristic of the Basque culture itself.” To this end, the Directorate of Basque Communities Abroad has developed “Dantza Munduan,” a program that provides online dance lessons taught by the Aiko Dantza Eskola.  Participants need to apply and will be chosen by the Basque Government.  Successful candidates will receive a scholarship so that classes are free, with applications to be presented by the individual’s Basque Club.  Requirements include, being a member of the club, being endorsed by the club as well as a commitment to all of the classes, along with proof from the Basque club that the individual is a dancer, or has proven interest in Basque dance.  Applications are due on December 13, 2020 and can be sent via email to euskaletxeak@euskadi.eus.  Applications are available here, and complete information on the program in four languages is provided here.
