Aita Jose Luis Galdos Guridi (1933 - 2020)

Jose Luis Galdos GuridiThe Euzko Etxea of New York has shared the news of the passing of   who had served for many years in New York City, specifically in the Bronx and in Harlem, and passed away last week at the age of 87.  Today we are sharing remembrances of him written by his nephew Imanol Galdos, as well as New York Basque Club representative, Enrique Arana. On behalf of everyone at NABO, we extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, and many friends, both here and in the Basque Country. Goian Bego.

 

The Endless Trench to Debut on Netflix This Friday

Today we were notified of a new addition to the N.A.B.O. Filmategia. The film, The Endless Trench(La Trinchera Infinita), which won the 2019 Irizar Award for best Basque Film at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, will make its U.S. debut on Netflix this coming Friday, November 6th.  This drama, starring Antonio de la Torre and Belén Cuesta, won two Goyas (Spanish Oscars) for Best Lead Actress and Best Sound, and was directed and produced by the same team behind films like 80 Egunean (For 80 Days), Loreak (Flowers) and Handia (Giant). Earlier this week, the Spanish Cinema Academy selected this film to represent Spain in the best international feature for the 2021 Oscars, as reported by Variety. Esker Onesko Eguna at San Francisco Basque Cultural Center

SFBCCThe San Francisco Basque Cultural Center has shared news about its new Esker Onesko Eguna event,  Sagardotegi eta Txakolin Eguna.  This event organized to “celebrate fall at the BCC with Basque Cider and Txakolin and a menu to take you back to Euskal Herria,” is planned for Sunday, November 15th.  Dinner will be served in the newly renovated Kancha at two sittings, the first at 1pm and the second at 5pm, each limited to 100 people.  RSVPs are due by November 6th, by emailing Yvette MindeguiaNo one will be admitted without an RSVP.  Cost of the dinner is $35 per person and $15 for children 12 and under.  For more information, including the complete menu, and the COVID-19 Ten Commandments, please visit the SFBCC Website.
