Chino Virtual Picnic Video
As many other clubs this year, the Chino Basque Club had to cancel its annual Basque Picnic, Labor Day Weekend, but it didn’t stop them from celebrating! Instead of letting the date go unnoticed, the club decided to hold a virtual picnic complete with mass celebrated by Aita Antton, greetings from the club president, Candida Echeverria, musicians from the Basque Country, and visitors from Colorado and Spain, cooking tutorials from several homes, and much more. Many followed the picnic’s live stream coverage, that included checking in on Raymond Bachoc, one of the club’s founding members, and his family. Kern County Basque Club Fundraiser SuccessThe Kern County Basque Club held a successful fundraiser last weekend with its “Drive Thru Food Fair” last Saturday, September 26th. The aim of the event was to raise money to make up revenue losses from not only cancelling their annual Basque festival, but also their participation in the local fair. Various food items were sold and were made available for pick up at the clubhouse between the hours of 4-7pm. Much to their delight, the local community of Bakersfield and the Basque community didn’t disappoint having purchased more than 1,800 sandwiches, among other items, raising more than $30,000. Patria Series Premiered on HBOmax
