Mass Commemorating Chino Basque Picnic

This weekend, Aita Antton will celebrate mass on Sunday,September 6th commemorating the Chino Basque Festival. Intentions for the mass will be for members of the Basque community who have passed away during the last year, as well as for those who are sick. Mass will be aired on Facebook Live beginning at 8:15am PST, and can also be watched later on by clicking on the video link on the Artzai Ona Facebook Page. Euskal Diasporaren Eguna

The international celebration of “Basque Diaspora Day” is coming right up on September 8th. As such, the Basque Government has created this promotional video sharing the spirit of this celebration reminding us that even though Basques reside all over the world, our culture unites us. If your club or organization would like to participate in this year’s virtual celebration, please send the Basque Government a video of the events you have planned to celebrate that day by September 13th emailing euskaletxeak@euskadi.eus. These videos will then be compiled into a documentary. Here is a great example provided by Todor Azurtza creator the Boise Basque Center’s “Diaspora Day,” video. Zorionak Todor!

Invitation to Dance Groups From Euskal Dantzarien Biltzarra

One good thing that has come out of the pandemic is that now everyone is invited to participate in this year’s “Euskal Dantzarien Biltzarra” Organizers of the event sent an invitation to all dance groups to participate in this year’s virtual event on October 3, 2020. Anyone wishing to participate should email dantzagune@gmail.com by September 20th indicating the name of your group and where it is from. Videos from all the groups will then be shared on the Euskal Dantzarien Biltzarra’s social media and on its website.

Jon Rahm Pulls Off Miraculous Putt to Regain Top Spot

Golf fans were in for a real treat last Sunday at the BMW Championship that took place at the Olympia Fields North Course August 27-30th. Besides watching Basque golfer, Jon Rahm come back from what could have been a devastating mistake the day before, the tournament ended with what are now being called the “best two back-to-back putts in golf history.” With Dustin Johnson making an unbelievable putt to tie Rahm, Rahm’s response on the first play-off hole was astounding.
