This Sunday's Mass with Aita Antton
Aita Antton will celebrate mass this Sunday commemorating the Gardnerville Basque Picnic that would have been held on August 8th and the Mountain Home Basque Picnic on August 9th. Intentions for the mass will be for the members of both Basque communities who have passed away during the last year, or for those who are sick. Mass will be aired on Facebook Live beginning at 8:15am PST, or can also be watched later on by clicking on the video link on the Artzai Ona Facebook Page. There are two missal's for this week’s mass: Gardnerville in the dialect of Lapurdi that Aita Antton will follow, and Mountain Home.
Happy Hour at the Basque Museum to Feature NABO
On August 13th, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center in Boise will host “Happy Hour.” This week’s guest is NABO President, Philippe Acheritogaray, who will tell what the North American Basque Organizations is. The talk will take place from 6:00-7:00pm MST on Zoom and prior registration is required. Please register here. So, everyone grab your favorite beverage and join in. You never know, you might learn something about NABO that you didn’t know before.
Most of you have already received this letter from Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez. This year being what it is, the Day of the Basque Diaspora will still be celebrated, but this year virtually. This is why the Basque Government is requesting that club’s planning on commemorating this date, please send a video to them ASAP so that it can be incorporated into a larger video that they will publish on this date. Life in Basque 2019: A Look Back
With all of our Basque festivities being cancelled this year, Peter Fawzi put together a montage of activities from last summer including the participation of several dancers from California Basque communities in Baztandarren Biltzarra. The footage also includes moments from last year’s NABO convention in Bakersfield, hosted by the Kern County Basque Club.
