Elko Sheepherder's Ball

Elko Sheepherders' BallThe Elko Euzkaldunak Basque Club will host its annual Sheepherder’s Ball and Mus Tournament this weekend, March 14th and 15th respectively.  The Sheepherder’s Ball will begin at 5:30pm at the clubhouse (1601 Flagview Drive), and admission is $15. The evening will include a silent auction, and homemade items for sale, dinner and dancing to the music of Jean Flesher, Jean Jules Flesher and Jean Pierre Etchechury. The night is also a fundraiser for club member, Mike Biers, a single father who is battling cancer, with the club donating half of the evening’s proceeds to him.  Please come out, enjoy great food music and dancing all while supporting a great cause.  On Sunday, March 15th, the club’s Mus Tournament will also take place at the clubhouse, with registration beginning at 7am.  You must be a club member to participate, and dues are payable at the door.  Cost for a single member is $30 or a family is $50, plus the tournament fee of $20, which includes lunch. Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Mus Tournament

Mendiko Euskaldun ClubaThe Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba in Gardnerville, Nevada will host its annual Mus Tournament on Saturday, March 21st at the Carson Valley Inn.  Registration begins at 7:30am with tournament play to begin immediately afterwards.  You must be a club member to participate.  Membership dues are $25 for an individual and $35 for families, and cost of the tournament is $25 per player.  All dues and fees are payable at the door or can be sent ahead of time with your registration.  Deadline to register for the tournament is Friday, March 20th at 5pm.  To register, or for more information, please email mendikoclub@outlook.com

 

Euskarabentura Youth Expedition 2020

This year Euskarabentura is celebrating its third edition July 1-31, 2020.  Euskarabentura, organized by an association of the same name, is a walking expedition that will take 120 youth between the ages of 16 and 17 years old, from all over the Basque Country, as well as the Diaspora, on a 783-kilometer journey, 483 of which is on foot.  Along the way, they will visit amazing places, as well as participate in seminars and workshops all lead by experts in a variety of fields (music, sociolinguistics, actors, bertsolaris, journalists, dancers, writers, athletes etc.).
