Saint Agatha Celebrations
Kids at the Boiseko Ikastola celebrated Agate Deunaren Bezpera (Santa Agueda) along with several other Basque clubs and communities around the world. This celebration, on February 4th, is traditionally celebrated by singers going door to door with homeowners “choosing to hear a song about Agatha’s life.” The songs are accompanied by the banging of makilas on the floor to the beat. The homeowners then would donate food to the carolers. For more information on this tradition see our website, or to see celebrations in other communities, see EuskalKultura.eus.
