Sheepherder's Ball in Boise
This weekend, the Boise Euzkaldunak will celebrate its annual Sheepherder’s Ball on Saturday, December 21st beginning with the December Holiday Dinner beginning at 6:30pm. Cost of the meal is $20 which includes admission to the Sheepherder’s Ball, and tickets for children 10 years and younger are $10. To RSVP please email dinner@basquecenter.com. Seating is limited so don’t miss out. Dinner will be followed by a performance by the Oinkaris at 8pm, followed by a lamb auction to raise funds for Basque charities. The dance to the sounds of Amuma Says No,will follow immediately after the auction. Cost of the dance, without dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Christmas Lunch in Chino
The Chino Basque Club will hold its annual Christmas Lunch on Sunday December 22nd from noon-8pm. Cost of the Paella and Lamb meal is free for members, and $25 for adults and $10 for children non-members. Please bring your favorite dessert to share. Basque Government 2020 Grant Budget Approved
The Basque Government’s Governing Council approved the budget for the 2020 Basque Club Grants on Tuesday. The total approved budget is 902,300 Euros, the same amount awarded last year. Of that sum, 782,300 Euros will be dedicated to Chapter IV grants aimed at activity and operating expenses. The rest, or 120,000 Euros, will be reserved for infrastructure expenses that can be used for total or partial funding of actions that contribute to improvements of club locales, repairing damages cause by catastrophes, eliminating architectural barriers, construction of clubhouses, adapting spaces for young people, or introducing technology for the development of youth and women’s activities. The deadline for grant applications will be one month from the day after the publication of the grant resolution in the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country, which is expected in the coming days. Once that date has been established, we will be sure to include it in a future issue of Astero.
